Summit Reflection
I started and finished this painting in March 2024. It started out as a practice piece where I gave myself two boundaries.
First, I limited my color palette to 5 bottles of acrylic paint: titanium white, permanent black, yellow ochre + an inexpensive craft blue & a craft green I already had on hand. I gave myself permission to mix those 5 as much as I wanted, but only those!
Second, I decided to only paint the theme I wanted (and still want) to master which is mountain landscapes. Since I live near the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, I want to learn to capture what I see!
These two guidelines actually helped me focus in and — counterintuitively — expanded my creativity! Please enjoy my very first original painting titled “Summit Reflection”
"Summit Reflection" is inspired by the quiet majesty of high-altitude lakes, where the water becomes a perfect mirror for the sky above. In the stillness of the mountains, reflections blur the line between earth and sky, creating a moment of tranquility that feels both vast and intimate. This piece captures that feeling—the grandeur of the peaks, the crisp mountain air, and the peaceful solitude found between towering summits. Simple, elegant, and timeless, it invites you to pause, breathe, and take in the beauty of nature’s quietest moments.
